On Saturday, Aug. 27, London’s O2 Arena will play host to a YouTube vs. Rapper celebrity boxing fight as KSI and Swarmz face off in the ring.
Lurking behind the scenes is Luis Alcaraz Pineda. If KSI beats Swarmz, Pineda will face KSI.
KSI is a YouTuber and rapper. His three YouTube channels have more than 40.7 million subscribers combined. He started his boxing career with a TKO win over Joe Weller in an amateur bout in February 2018. The 29-year-old’s other boxing experience is a pair of fights against against Logan Paul. The first one, an amateur fight, ended in a draw; the second, pro bout, saw KSI beat Paul via split decision.
Swarmz is a British rapper. The 25-year-old has collaborated with KSI within the music world, and was featured in KSI's Houdini single in 2020. Swarmz has over 10.8K subscribers to his YouTube page.
Today at 2 pm (7 pm BST) on DAZN PPV, social media star and rapper KSI will return to boxing in the main event, and possibly two main events, of a boxing card filled with what are called “influencers,” almost none of whom can box.
You may be able to quickly clock that I do not particularly want to be here, but here is a promise: I will tell you who wins and loses the fights, and there will be round-by-round updates for KSI’s fight with Swarmz, and the second fight with a pro boxer who may or may not be among the best boxers on this show. So the updates will be real. You can rely on the updates being, you know, the updates.
KSI, of course, has a bit of boxing experience, though exclusively against other novices from YouTube and what have you, including an amateur and pro bout with Logan Paul. The pro bout was the last time KSI boxed, and that was in 2019.
Jake Paul believes KSI will easily dispatch of Swarmz and Luis Alcaraz Pineda tonight.
YouTube star KSI - JJ Olatunji - will return to the ring for the first time in over 1000 days when he takes on two opponents in one night including rapper Swarmz - real name Brendan Scott and professional boxer Pineda. It will be his first outing since facing Paul's brother Logan in a high-profile rematch back in 2019.
A win for Olatunji could see him edge closer to his long-awaited clash with Paul after more activity later this year. And Paul believes he will easily progress beyond Swarmz. “Swarmz doesn’t know how to fight,” Paul said on the BS with Jake Paul podcast. “He’s never been in the ring, so it’s going to be an easy fight for KSI.
“It should be a one-round fight, I think KSI wins, probably a TKO. It’s just going to look like some dogs ***. Paul later renewed his rivalry with Olatunji on social media yesterday criticising him for fighting Pineda. He tweeted: "You are fighting a nice young man from Mexico in a 3 round exhibition. Be real. No such thing as a 3 round pro fight."
Olatunji quickly replied: "Was wondering when you were gonna pipe up. You must be so sad and bored on your arse, having no event happening. Still fighting a pro boxer before you, and you had 3 year head start. Plus how you gonna talk when you ain’t fought 2 people in one night?"
Paul ended the social media debate: "Same as you will after this weekend. What you doing isn’t fighting.
